Functional Safety Training Course
Course Objective
The course aim is to provide all engineers involved in Safety Instrumented Systems with elementary and necessary knowledge about Functional Safety, based on standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
 Basic Functional Safety Principles (2 days)
 Functional Safety Expert (FSE) by TÜV InterCert Group Saarland (3 days + half day for exam)
Who should attend?
Technicians, Designers, Directors and Technical Officers and all those involved in any phase of the life cycle of SIS safety
Basic Functional Safety Principles (Mod. A)
The basic course provide to all participants knowledge about basic principle of Functional Safety to all those are involved in SIS safety.
Duration: 16 hours
 IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards
 Prevention and Mitigation Layers for hazardous event
 Basic terms and concepts in FSE
 SIL classification and methodology
 Safety Requirements Specification (SRS)
 SIF Design and Verification
 Classroom exercise
 Evaluation Test
Certificate of Attendance provided to all participants

Functional Safety Expert (FSE) by TÜV InterCert Group Saarland
The FSE course allows participants to gain FSE qualification, which provide:
• FSE Certificate
• Membership card
• Enrollment to Functional Safety Expert Register
Duration: 24 hours + 4 hours for exam
 Basic Functional Safety Principle program (Mod. A)
 PFDavg calculation with Markov models
 FSM Management by FSE
 Software for Functional Safety
 SIS Test and Installation
 Exam to obtain TÜV InterCert Certification as Functional Safety Expert
